Bio

Stephanie Gaskill, Ph.D. is a Fellow at the Jesuit Social Research Institute at Loyola University New Orleans, where she assists with JSRI's prison education program.

Stephanie specializes in higher education in prison program administration. She has a passion for working closely with students, faculty, and administrators to create quality programming.

Stephanie was previously the Higher Ed Lead at Operation Restoration, a non-profit organization that supports currently and formerly incarcerated women. She served as the primary administrator for a college in prison program in partnership with Tulane University’s School of Professional Advancement. Approximately 40 students at the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women are now taking for-credit courses required to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science. Stephanie is also an experienced researcher who most recently contributed to a study on the Second Chance Pell Experiment.

Stephanie received her Ph.D. in Religious Studies from The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2017. Her dissertation was an examination of religion, race, and incarceration in Louisiana.
